Tacoma Nature Center

Client: Metro Parks Tacoma | Architect: J.A. Brennan Associates, PLLC

The Tacoma Nature Center is a 17-acre wetland and is the central feature of the Tacoma Nature Center. DCG teamed with a landscape architect to design park improvements including a nature-centered playground, trails, and an interactive water feature. DCG was responsible for the design of structural, drainage, erosion control, and utility elements for the project. Low-impact development techniques used in stormwater design included rain gardens and a dispersion trench. The low-impact facilities allowed for the infiltration and pretreatment of the stormwater before being dispersed into natural vegetation and are incorporated into the recreational and educational function of the park.
