Stormwater Management

DCG provides comprehensive stormwater and master plans and expertise in areas such as agency stormwater management and enforcement including plan reviews and inspections. We offer our clients a variety of the most up-to-date computer stormwater models to best fit their specific needs. We maintain knowledge of stormwater and environmental regulations and requirements so that we may be a resource to communities as they plan for the future. DCG has Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) members on staff.

Madison Valley Long-Term Solution NW Diversion & Stormwater Storage Facilities

As a subconsultant, DCG provided design and construction phase support for local stormwater collection and conveyance facilities that involved the trenchless construction of a stormwater pipeline - a 2.1 million gallon storage facility, that re-directs surface runoff from the combined sewer to the new stormwater storage facility. DCG’s familiarity with the SPU’s engineering design and drafting standards was a complement to the project and team as a whole. Throughout the project, DCG demonstrated engineering expertise in a cost-conscious manner, while being aware of project management requirements for an aggressive project schedule and minimizing construction impacts in the densely populated Madison Valley neighborhood.

4th S & S Trenton Storm Drain Improvments

DCG was the lead design firm for the $3.6M improvements including over 3,700 lineal feet of new ductile iron storm drains ranging from 12-inch to 24-inch diameter with a variety of catch basin and inlet types to provide the most efficient collection of stormwater as well as re-construction of roads and sidewalks per SDOT standards. The project included transformation of 3.5 acres of vacant land (previously a fill site for the SR 509 project) on the Seattle Parks’ Marra-Desimone Park site into a multi-use stormwater facility. Stormwater quality treatment was enhanced through the construction of biofiltration treatment swales collected by the new stormwater mains. DCG also designed relocation of 8-inch water mains, including temporary gravity blocks to protect existing water valves and hydrants during the adjacent excavation, and temporary above grade water loops to maintain domestic water service to the residential neighborhood.

Yauger Park Regional Stormwater Facility Expansion Phase I

Design of a $2M green infrastructure water quality treatment facility including water quality treatment wetlands, bioretention facilities, permeable pavement, water harvesting, and park amenities including bicycle shelters, trails, boardwalk, and disc golf course improvements.

Terminal 117 Adjacent Streets and Dallas Ave. S. Drainage

Stormwater improvements related to the T-117 Adjacent Streets cleanup project provide a high standard of water quality treatment, including bioretention areas with specialized treatment media and Filterra® Bioretention Systems.
